Hello everybody! So when I started experimenting with makeup, I was awful, literally take my word for it! My mascara always used to be clumpy, I wore bright blue eyeshadow using the brushes they gave you #thuglife, and yeah... not a good look... so here is the reason why I did this post! I hope you enjoy, and that some of these things help you if you're just starting to experiment with makeup, and also so you can read my fails and resist facepalming.
Enjoy!

1) Less is more! Seriously I used to go way overboard! Like I mean, I need bright blue eyeshadow, mascara and bright pink lips to take a few steps outside my house? As if!
2) Your skin needs no-makeup days! Makeup doesn't have any good ingrediants in it at the end of the day, so let your skin breathe, and perhaps treat yourself to a face mask instead!
3) Cosmetic Allergies exist... I have terrible reactions to some makeup products, which always make my eyes puffy, red, and dry, makeup hasn't got anything decent in it, so why start wearing makeup when you either don't want to, or have a lovely face anyway?
4) It's better to have a few good quality products than loads of bad quality products! At the end of the day, if your foundation and powder make your face look cakey, and if your mascara is clumpy, is it worth it? Remember, either way makeup can have carcinogens in them (ingredients that are involved in causing cancer), and have ingredients that can trigger allergic reactions...
5) If you decide to go bold, it is better to choose either lips or eyes, than both! Yes... some people can pull this look off amazingly! But the reality is, is that for most of us... it just doesn't work!
6) Before filling in your eyebrows, at least make sure you have either plucked/waxed/had them threaded, or at least that they have a decent shape!Seriously, my eyebrows were an awful state, and guess what I did? I used an eyebrow pencil all over my eyebrows, making them too dark for me and it accentuated the awful shape!
7) If your mum says your makeup looks awful. It looks awful.
8) If you start wearing foundation, make sure it is the right shade for you! I know it's hard, but there has to be a foundation out there that is perfect for you! My first foundation happened to be very orange-toned and made me look like I was either wearing a heck-load of fake tan, or like I can't apply foundation.
9) Sometimes, higher priced doesn't mean the quality is better! Think about it, is a £16.00 MAC Lipstick going to be a lot different to a drugstore one? I'm sure you can find a drugstore lipstick that is just as good, or even better!
10) Watch some tutorials to get you started! Learning from people who know what they are doing is really useful if you're just starting to wear makeup, instead of trying to create your own methods! Not saying those can't work, but they simply didn't for me...
