Instagram pods: you love them, or you loathe them. In recent months, pods of all platforms (more information here) have taken blogosphere by storm- and brought its fair share of controversies with it! In today's post, I'll be sharing with you my experience with Instagram pods and why they're simply not for me... but before I do that, I just want to say that I mean no harm to those who love pods- we're all entitled to our opinions and loving (or hating) pods doesn't make you a criminal! So, have I intrigued you yet? Scroll down to read! G x T H E G O O DThough my inner pessimist hates to say it, yes... Instagram pods do work and it is the main reason us bloggers are joining them! With the new algorithm, where you get the pleasure of seeing posts from a week ago rather than 10 minutes ago, it's becoming increasingly harder to get your account noticed and pods helped my account immensely. Not only was I receiving more engagement on my photos, but I found my follower count increasing rapidly (that is, compared to usual)- in a few months I went from 650 to 710 followers, compared to my usual gain of about 5-10 in the same time! Follower counts aren't everything- I'm aware- but from what I've found, it does help immensely in terms of blog traffic. To add, you can discover some incredible blogs and people too! T H E B A DHowever, unless your pod isn't you and your best blogging friends, to put this in the nicest way possible, you will come across content that simply doesn't tickle your fancies. Although that's completely normal (after all, we can't all like the same things), it makes things an awful lot tricker in terms of comments- and you'll find the same problem coming back your way! Some of the engagement simply didn't feel genuine at times and though it's perfectly okay to have different interests, I'd rather have genuine engagement on my Instagram account- albeit nowhere near as much! & T H E U G L YBeing a GCSE student who happens to spend a majority of her life studying, Instagram pods just took up far too much time for me- many people in the pod posted at least once or twice a day after all! I was constantly behind to the point where even going on Instagram became a burden. To add, constantly being behind took a real toll on my stress levels and mental health- in fact, it was the main reason why I opted out of Instagram pods! Y O U D O Y O UAt the end of the day, as controversial as pods may be, I think we as bloggers should respect others and their decisions regarding pods- as the saying goes, you do you boo. The matter of the fact is, Instagram pods work for many and if you've been wanting to join one, I reckon you do and make your own mind up! I mean no disrespect towards anybody in this post, and hope you have found this an enjoyable read. What do you think about pods, have you had any experiences with them yourself? I've personally seen the good & the bad with Insta pods. I was in one which was so strict - the rules were to comment every time and comment within half an hour, with a certain amount of words... and that was just way too stressful for me so I had to leave. But I'm in a lovely one now, which is a lot more relaxed, it's still helped my engagement a lot but I'm now not under the pressure of commenting even when I'm at work or out and about for the day! Great post! xo
