I first started buying Maybeline's Baby Lips at the start of this year, or maybe even the end of last year as there was so much hype over them in the Youtube and Blogging communities and at first, I completely understood all the hype and was completely taken by these. After about a month of using Baby Lips religiously (not even joking...) I thought I'd lost my favourite, Intense Care, and instead had to reach for my Nivea Lip Butters. Now I'm not going to go into another review but these Nivea Lip Butters were a billion times better for moisture and I didn't realize this until I once reached for them again- the Baby Lips just sat on my lips and did nothing. Although it felt nice on lips, it simply did nothing which made me think it was a complete waste of my money and then I again stopped using them again.
However the pigmented Baby Lips were still being used as I loved them for a little bit of color when I didn't want to go full out with lipstick- they're perfect for school! Pigmentation wise, they are amazing for a lip balm and have a nice shade range! However, don't be fooled as some of them look like they will be pigmented but give next to nothing color wise, such as Melon Mania (which gives a very subtle pink), Minty Sheer and Peach Punch. This disappointed me slightly as I thought I was going to get a gorgeous shade but it was either very subtle or no pigmentation what so ever.
Another subject that I wanted to touch on, is their claim that it lasts 8 hours- but I think we all know that no lipstick lasts 8 hours, let alone a lip balm! Maybe an hour to two, but not eight!
They retail for £2.99 in shops such as Boots and Superdrug, which is not expensive for a lip balm and for pigmentation, they would be a good choice. Overall I would repurchase, but just for the pigmentation when I don't want to wear a lipgloss or lipstick and would give it 3 1/2 stars.
Pros:
- Good Shade Range
- Inexpensive
- Great Pigmentation
- Feels Nice on the Lips
Cons:
- Sometimes Misleading Colors
- Doesn't Moisturize Your Lips
- Doesn't Last 8 Hours
