Frequently Asked Questions!
Did it hurt getting it done/afterwards?
Now you have to remember, we all have different pain tolerances so what might hurt for me- might not hurt for you! (Although I'd like to think I have an OK pain tolerance) On the pain tolerance scale, 1 being nothing at all to 10 being unbearable- I would have to give the piercing itself a 3/4. Now... I know some people say they can't feel anything; I felt a sharp pinch, but it was certainly bearable!
Afterwards, the piercing didn't hurt but was quite sore on the first day, after that........
How long did you want it for?
I wanted this piercing since I was in Year 7, aged 12- quite young, I know but it stayed with me for a whole year so I finally got it done now.
Do you regret having it done?
For the time being, nope! After all... it's not permanent and you can take it out if you want to as it is the piercing that closes up the quickest!
What did you have it done with?
I know so many people complain about these, but I got mine done with a gun. Many people say it tears the tissue in your cartilage but mine was absolutely fine!
How much did it cost?
It cost me £15!
When can you change the stud?
In comparison to other piercings, you can change this one pretty quick. I changed mine in 2 weeks- but is that too early?
What is the healing time?
4-6 weeks! :)
Do you have to do anything to the piercing afterwards?
Yes, but it's not much! Many people talk about the salt water, but I got a body piercing solution and used it to clean my piercing- using a cotton bud around the area.
How long does it take for the redness to go away?
I didn't really get any redness so I can't answer this one!
Did your eyes water?
Yes, but not a drastic amount!
Does it bother you?
At first maybe a little, but you soon get used to it- and no... the stud will not fall out when you sneeze. (well, it didn't for me anyway :) )
Have you had any infections?
Nope, all was good :)
How can you hide it at work/school?
I had to wear a plaster and it certainly wasn't discreet- I'd get it done in the Summer Holidays if you go to school as that would give it time to heal and then you could buy a retainer which wouldn't be visible- or a clear stud and cover it with foundation. (however this could lead to infections as makeup irritates the piercing)

The process...
Excluding waiting time, the whole process was very quick! Firstly, I chose a stud from the choices that they had- which was a plain white gem, titanium stud. Then... the lady cleaned my nose with some solution and put a dot where the piercing would go and you can say if it's okay or not. Finally, all you had to do was close your eyes, and wait for the gun to go through! It's very quick, but your eyes tear up straight away (don't worry, it's a natural reaction) and that's about it!
Tips!
1) After you first want it, wait a few months; if by then you still want it... then go ahead and get it done! Even though it's not permanent, make sure you actually want it!
2) Don't get nervous! There is nothing to be afraid of, the process is quick and easy and if you have a reputable piercer- everything will be okay!
3) Do your research! Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into!
4) If you're getting it done when you're not allowed it at school, do it in the holidays so you have time for it to heal without the need to cover it with makeup! Also, it will mean you can wear a clear stud, or a retainer when you go back to school so nobody will see it if it is against the dress code.
5) Make sure you go to a reputable piercer!
