Work Smarter, NOT Harder: How To Be More Productive & Get Shit Done

1/12/2019

I have to admit, the one question which I simply cannot stand receiving as a study blogger is the classic "How many hours should I be revising?" or anything along that train of thought. See, this is one of the main issues I have with the community as it stands; seeing as it's a little difficult to evaluate your work by how much you have been able to achieve and retain at a later date, we just tend to resort to hours as some sort of reliable measurement for productivity and, thus, success. The problem with this, though, is that one person could get the same amount of work done in 4 hours as another might in 8 - and no, it's not a question of natural ability, it's to do with how focused and efficient you've been. This was my greatest mistake at GCSE: it was almost as if I was on house arrest by my own accord, chained to my books, and quite frankly... I did nothing but make myself miserable - all the while not even retaining half of the information I was supposedly learning! Most of us have been here, at least in the latter scenario, but today I'm hoping to share some of my A-Level wisdom as to how you can get the most of your study sessions by doing more in less time - all the while retaining what you learn so that you have time to do the things that you enjoy. Gosh, that was a long introduction - but I hope you enjoy this post, and let me know your thoughts in the comments section below!

How I Revise: A-Level/GCSE Maths

12/8/2019

Lo and behold, the 'How to Revise' series is making its return this Back to School season- and we're starting with the highly anticipated post about how to revise for maths, both at A-Level and GCSE! Admittedly, this has been a blog post that I've been putting off because, unlike English Literature or Spanish where my revision methods are quite varied, maths is a subject where my revision is rather repetitive and almost ritualistic- but it's a process that has really worked for me over the years, and I thought it might be helpful to share it nevertheless. As always, if you have any queries or if there's anything you think I've missed out, feel free to leave me a comment down below and I hope you find this post useful!

The BEST Memorisation Technique For GCSE/A-Level

16/4/2019

We've all been there: exam season is fast approaching and you have weeks, or maybe even days, until your exam- you know... the exam you haven't yet started revising for? This was the exact scenario that I was in last year two weeks before my GCSE Science Paper Two exams, but it was with this technique (as well as completing practice question after practice question) that I still managed to walk away with two grade 9's and an 8 in those very exams- and it is this method that I'll be sharing with you today. Though perhaps a little shorter than some of my other posts, I hope it is useful and as per usual do feel free to leave any thoughts in the comments below!

How I Revise: GCSE English Literature

6/7/2018

Lo and behold, three months later, the second post in my revision series is finally here- and it's (what I deem to be, anyway) a fairly comprehensive guide to revising English Literature at GCSE. Now, I don't know if I was looking in all the wrong places, but in Year 10... I was a bit baffled as to how you were meant to revise English Literature- and even to this day, I think it can be harder to revise for than a lot of subjects. However, I think- despite my first exam being an utter shambles- I finally cracked the key to revising English Literature this year, and want to share my methods here to help anybody else out who may feel the same way as I did. If there's anything I missed, be sure to mention it in the comments below, as well as your thoughts. Aside from that, I hope you enjoy this post and that it's useful!

How I Revise: GCSE Languages

17/3/2018

Believe it or not, the story behind this post is quite ironic; see... when I started by Studygram account back in November, I thought it'd actually inspire me to study- but instead of studying, of course, it inspired me to blog about studying. Sorry, it gets me every time! Nevertheless, I think it was a few days ago that I uploaded a poll asking whether these posts would be useful- and given the results, I'm here today to share with you revision strategies for a subject which, until year 11, I also didn't particularly know how to revise: languages! Despite the fact I do AQA 9-1 French, I aimed to make this post as universal as possible to other languages and exam boards- so hope you find it useful!
