Hey guys! Now... we all know the drill by now, page views aren't life or death and blogging should only be for fun, and not for the numbers but come on, who doesn't look at their stats? Needless to say, I was rather shocked (but obviously pleased) when I saw my page views double in a month! Want to know how I did it? Time to click 'Read More'!
Comment, comment, comment!
There's nothing wrong with spreading the love in the blogging community! Now, when I say comment, I don't mean you should spam about 50 sites with the generic 'Great Post!' comment; why not comment something meaningful? If you genuinely liked their post, comment, tell them why you liked it (was the photography good, was it descriptive/interesting?), comment your thoughts etc...
Promote, Promote, Promote!
I have to admit, I did feel a bit uncomfortable when posting more links to my Twitter, as I thought people would just get annoyed with it or wouldn't be interested- but, believe or it, people do actually click on the link! There are plenty of accounts out there that help promote bloggers by retweeting them, and those who host chats (more on that later) and they've certainly helped me a lot! Again, be sure to spread the love and actually look at others' posts instead of just promoting and promoting your own posts without returning the favour. Obviously, you don't have to stick to Twitter but personally, it's my favourite social network for bloggers.
Getting Involved in Twitter Chats
There are so many Twitter chats for bloggers and YouTubers, all you have to do is get involved. Not only do you throw yourself out there, you get to meet and network so many other lovely bloggers. After all, blogging always feels a bit lonely until you start networking! Here are some of the chats I'm aware of, feel free to screenshot, save and use!
Improving Your Photos & Writing
Over these past few months, I would definitely say my blog photography and writing has improved- no... that's not me being cocky, it's because I've spent a lot more time on it! While my photography still isn't perfect and images are still underexposed (got to love the reliable Autumn lighting!), I'm definitely trying to improve it and I think it's paying off. Let's be honest, would you rather visit a blog that has pretty, well-composed images or underexposed and blurry images? I think we're all guilty of thinking the first option!
& All In All, Spend More Time On Your Blog!
I'd be straight-up lying if I told you the time I spend working on posts and promoting hasn't increased- of course it has! I'm a huge believe of 'you only get what you put in' out of something, so if you want more page views, go and work for it!
