Over the past couple of months, it'd be fair to say I've been fascinated with the idea of minimalism- and the more I looked into it, the more it grew on me. I wouldn't go anywhere as far as to call myself a minimalist- at the moment, that'd be more of an oxymoron than anything else- but I definitely want to adopt aspects of it into my life, particularly now with the end of exams! That leads me onto this post, with how I hope to kick off my journey this summer- I do hope you enjoy reading, and any tips in the comments would be much appreciated!

Up until now, I would quite easily have described myself as a shopaholic- which in turn means that there have been a lot of impulse purchases over the years, hence a lot of bad decisions that have accumulated in my wardrobe. Before I start Sixth Form in September, I want to cull my wardrobe for once and for all- whether it be the dress that I 'would eventually fit into' (let's be honest, that didn't happen), or items that have got a little too close to my heart, anything that isn't worn and isn't bringing joy into my life has to go!

Minimalism isn't just about getting rid of material goods, however- it's also about clearing your mind! Over the exam season, I really did let myself go in terms of anything that wasn't to do with studying- whether it be the greasy hair, or as you've probably guessed, letting my unread email count rise higher than my stress levels! I think it goes without saying that seeing the notification on my phone telling me I have over 1000 unread emails is beyond stressful, so I'll be sure to clear that up soon and make sure I unsubscribe from mailing lists I no longer want to hear from.

Following on from the last point, I also aim to get back into reading; in fact, reading for pleasure isn't something I've done consistently since I was in Year 7- which is rather shocking, I'll admit, particularly given the numerous studies that have proved those who read more tend to achieve better grades! However, I've made a list on my phone of books I aim to get through this summer and am now pushing myself to read everyday- albeit sometimes not the greatest amounts!

I think it goes without saying that we're bound to change over time, and I feel as if this change is reflected in our blogs. At the end of the day, as much as it's funny to look back on, I'm by no means the same person as the thirteen year old girl that started this blog- so I don't want my old blog posts, with the pitiful photography in all their glory, to reflect that! It's okay to wipe the slate clean, and I feel as if this isn't really talked about in terms of blogosphere.

There's really not much else to say about this one- again, with exam-season passing, my organisational skills flew out of the window along with my predicted grades! Though I'm a true cat lady at heart, it's fair to say that there's only so many cat photos I actually need on my phone...
